Photoionization of methanol dimer using a tunable vacuum ultraviolet laser
نویسندگان
چکیده
Methanol dimer (CD3OH)2 ion–molecule reaction is initialized by VUV ~vacuum ultraviolet! laser photoionization. The proton and deuteron transfers are the dominant reactions. The relative probabilities of deuteron transfer from the methyl group and proton from the hydroxyl group were measured as a function of VUV photon energy between 10.91 to 10.49 eV. According to those results, the probability of proton transfer from the hydroxyl group increases with the VUV photon energy. Isotopic scrambling is not complete before dissociation of the ion complex in the photon energy used. In addition, ab initio calculations are performed and four stable structures of the methanol dimer ion are found. One of these structures is an unreported complex, CD3OHD 1 ̄CD2OH, which has a very unusual type of hydrogen bond. This complex plays a significant role in the deuteron transfer reaction in the range of excitation energies used in this study. © 1999 American Institute of Physics. @S0021-9606~99!00832-6#

متن کاملVacuum ultraviolet photofragmentation of octadecane: photoionization mass spectrometric and theoretical investigation
The photoionization and fragmentation of octadecane were investigated with infrared laser desorption/tunable synchrotron vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) photoionization mass spectrometry (IRLD/VUV PIMS) and theoretical calculations. Mass spectra of octadecane were measured at various photon energies. The fragment ions were gradually detected with the increase of photon energy. The main fragment ions w...
متن کاملIonization of cytosine monomer and dimer studied by VUV photoionization and electronic structure calculations.
We report a combined theoretical and experimental study of ionization of cytosine monomers and dimers. Gas-phase molecules are generated by thermal vaporization of cytosine followed by expansion of the vapor in a continuous supersonic jet seeded in Ar. The resulting species are investigated by single photon ionization with tunable vacuum-ultraviolet (VUV) synchrotron radiation and mass analyzed...

In this work we report on the detection and vacuum-ultraviolet (VUV) photoionization of gas-phase SiO(2) generated in situ via laser ablation of silicon in a CO(2) molecular beam. The resulting species are investigated by single-photon ionization with tunable VUV synchrotron radiation and mass analyzed using reflectron mass spectrometry. Photoionization efficiency (PIE) curves are recorded for ...
متن کاملVUV photoionization cross sections of HO2, H2O2, and H2CO.
The absolute vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) photoionization spectra of the hydroperoxyl radical (HO2), hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), and formaldehyde (H2CO) have been measured from their first ionization thresholds to 12.008 eV. HO2, H2O2, and H2CO were generated from the oxidation of methanol initiated by pulsed-laser-photolysis of Cl2 in a low-pressure slow flow reactor. Reactants, intermediates, and p...
